Starlight Princess Slot Review
An anime-styled pay-anywhere slot where the princess drops random multipliers, and those multipliers keep adding up through free spins. The game that started a whole series.
Our Take: Starlight Princess is a proven formula: pay-anywhere wins, tumbles and growing multipliers. It's slightly gentler than the 1000 version, which makes it a better first pick.

Starlight Princess Slot Overview
The starlight princess slot pays when eight or more matching symbols land anywhere on a 6×5 grid. Tumbles add extra wins, and random multiplier orbs from 2× to 500× can boost any winning spin.
- Pay-anywhere wins: 8+ matching symbols anywhere on screen.
- Multipliers from 2× to 500× land randomly and are added together on a winning spin.
- In free spins, multipliers carry over and keep growing for the whole round.
How the Starlight Princess Grid Pays
The 6×5 grid has no paylines. Land eight or more of the same symbol anywhere and you win. Winning symbols disappear, new ones tumble in, and the sequence continues until there are no more wins.
At any time, the princess can drop multiplier symbols worth 2× up to 500×. If the tumble sequence they appear in produces a win, all the multipliers on screen are added together and applied to the total.
Starlight Princess Free Spins and Multipliers
Four or more scatters award 15 free spins, and three or more during the round add 5 more. The key difference is that every multiplier that contributes to a win is added to a running total multiplier that applies to every later win in the round. That's why the late spins of a good round pay far more than the early ones.
An optional Ante Bet raises your stake by 25% to double the chance of triggering free spins, and some casinos also offer a Bonus Buy at 100× the bet.
Starlight Princess vs Starlight Princess 1000, Pachi and Super Scatter
Pragmatic Play has released several versions. The two main ones only differ in two numbers:
| Version | Top multiplier | Max win | RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starlight Princess (2021) | 500× | 5,000× | 96.50% |
| Starlight Princess 1000 | 1,000× | 15,000× | 96.50% |
The grid, scatter rules, Ante Bet and theme are identical. Starlight Princess Pachi and Starlight Princess Super Scatter are separate spin-offs with their own mechanics, so their figures don't match this review.
What Other Reviewers Say About Starlight Princess
Reviewers agree that Starlight Princess is one of Pragmatic Play's most popular pay-anywhere slots, and most rate it in the high 8s out of 10. They highlight the growing multiplier in free spins and the clear, colourful anime style. The most common criticism is that it plays almost exactly like Gates of Olympus, with a different theme. Several reviewers also note that the free spins can end with very little if the multipliers don't arrive early.
What reviewers like
- Running multiplier makes free spins exciting
- Proven, easy-to-learn pay-anywhere format
- Ante Bet gives you some control over bonus frequency
Common criticisms
- Very similar to Gates of Olympus
- 5,000× cap is lower than newer versions
- Free spins can end flat
Starlight Princess RTP, Volatility & Max Win
The standard RTP is 96.50%, and the volatility is high. The max win is 5,000× your stake, which is lower than the newer 1000 edition but still a big result. Most winning free spins rounds pay somewhere between 20× and 200×.
Play Starlight Princess for Free First
The demo runs the same maths with play credits. It's worth a few hundred spins to see how often the scatters land and how much a typical round pays. When you're ready to play Starlight Princess for real money, pick a stake that covers at least 200 spins.
Tips for Playing Starlight Princess
- The Ante Bet only makes sense if you want more frequent bonuses and can afford the higher stake.
- Count multipliers, not tumbles. A round with an early big multiplier is worth watching to the end.
- If you like this, try Gates of Olympus 1000 for the same mechanic with a bigger ceiling.
